At UltiPlay Parks & Playgrounds, we’re always looking to bring the latest, most inspiring and high-quality play experiences to our customers and communities across New England. We are excited to share two big releases from our manufacturing partner Earthscape that expand the way children interact, explore, and imagine in outdoor spaces: the Ribbon Collection and four fresh faces in the Junior Critters line: Gatherer, Fish, Floppy, and Howler.
The Ribbon Collection: Dynamic and Engaging Obstacle Course
Earthscape’s Ribbon Collection packs fun and challenge into a stunning modular design. Earthscape designed the collection as a dynamic course that is long and low, with three configurable elements:
- Ribbon Rope Climber
- Ribbon Tower
- Ribbon Coliseum

The best part? We can combine these pieces in multiple layouts to suit different budgets and spaces. Whether you have room for the full Ribbon system or want to begin with just one element and build out over time, the Ribbon Collection is highly adaptable and functional.
Key Features of the Ribbon Collection
- Versatility in design: You can configure the three components in various combinations. You could have the full Ribbon System. Or you could just install the Ribbon Tower or the Ribbon Coliseum on its own. Or, you can add the Ribbon Robe Climber to an existing playground area.
- Obstacle‑course style play: The Ribbon system promotes movement, challenge, coordination, and social interaction. It encourages children to climb and balance, which are great for gross motor development for kids ages 5-12.
- Long & low profile: Ribbon can integrate subtly into lower landscapes while still offering plenty of physical challenge.
- Scalable in phases: Want to start with just a Ribbon Tower, and later add the Rope Climber or Coliseum? You can. This helps with budgeting, future expansion, or matching installation resources.
- Aesthetic appeal: The Ribbon system has clean lines, a modern feel, and fits right in with natural landscapes.
Meet the New Critters: Gatherer, Fish, Floppy & Howler
For younger children, Earthscape’s Junior collection has long been a favorite. They recently added four new Critters to the Junior Collection – Gatherer, Fish, Floppy, and Howler.

Key Features of the New Critters
- Designed for little ones: Earthscape engineers its Critters with the size, strength, coordination, and safety needs of children ages 2-5 in mind. Low heights, gentle transitions, and approachable forms make these the perfect component for early childhood centers, preschools, and daycare centers.
- Imaginative & sensory play: As “critters,” these play structures promote pretend play and social interaction. The Fish Critter is great for aquatic-themed playgrounds, while the Howler Critter evokes a woodland wildlife scene. Floppy’s long rabbit-like ears may inspire stories of Peter Rabbit, while Gatherer’s bushy tail reminds us of a beaver or squirrel. These animal themes help young children explore their creativity and imagination, while providing an inviting space to interact.
- Complementary to existing Junior line: These critters join Earthscape’s robust Junior collection that includes items like Discovery Tables and Play Huts. Together, these pieces build a cohesive area for younger kids.
- Safety & structure: Earthscape’s products deliver on material quality, durability, ergonomic design, and playground safety standards, always. These structures are built to last in outdoor settings, handle wear and tear, and support safe use.
